1998

A management team supported by JLL Partners, a private investment firm, acquires Builders' Supply & Lumber Company from The Pulte Corporation.

2005

Builders FirstSource, Inc. commences initial public offering of common stock on Nasdaq.

2008 - 2011

The housing market crashes, kickstarting the Great Recession. Making many hard choices, Builders FirstSource successfully avoids bankruptcy and survives the financial crisis.

2012

Builders FirstSource starts to see signs of turnaround. For the first time in five years, the company announces revenues exceeding $1 billion. In three years’ time, it will triple those results. Two years later, it will surpass the $6 billion revenue mark.

2015

Builders FirstSource acquires ProBuild, creating a national professional dealer with over 430 locations across 40 states.

JANUARY 2021

Builders FirstSource and BMC merge, creating the nation’s premier supplier of building materials and services, operating 550 locations across 40 states.

JULY 2021

Builders FirstSource completes listing transfer to the New York Stock Exchange. The BFS leadership team rings the opening bell.

AUGUST 2021

BFS acquires WTS Paradigm, a software solutions and services provider for the building products industry. The deal marks an important step forward in the company’s strategy to invest in innovative digital solutions to help its customers build more efficiently.

DECEMBER 2023

Added to S&P 500, a significant achievement reflecting our growth and position as the industry leader for building products.
