SPOTLIGHT: MILITARY APPRECIATION

May 31, 2022

Veterans are an important part of the Builders FirstSource team. We're proud to work with members of the military community at every level of our organization from coast to coast. May is Military Appreciation month, and we wanted to take the opportunity to honor, recognize, remember, and celebrate the brave men and women who have served, or are currently serving, our country. We are extremely fortunate to have them on our team, and we are actively recruiting more veterans to join us!

We're proud to share a few of the our veterans' stories.

JORDAN MATKIN

Sales Specialist
West Valley, UT

Jordan Matkin has been in the Utah Army National Guard for 7 years and has also worked with Builders FirstSource for five years. He started thinking about it when he was playing with army soldier toys as a kid, but the idea started in earnest when his older brother joined the Marine Corps. He started out as an air traffic controller and is now a sergeant responsible for guiding a team and setting an example for them. He thought Builders FirstSource would be a good fit for him because he likes to be hands on and use military skills like communication and flexibility, and also because "there are companies that want to help you transition, and BFS is one of them."

JOSEPH NORRIS

CDL Driver
Lubbock, TX

Joseph Norris was a corporal in the Marine Corps from 2008-12, and when he found out how much Builders FirstSource was committed to veterans, he knew this is where he wanted to be. "They go above and beyond the call of duty, which means a lot." He joined the company in August 2021. As a squad leader, he helped his team develop leadership skills, self-education and field training. That leadership experience is something he continues to bring to his job everyday by focusing on a positive attitude and continue working until his job is done.
